Newsletter: September 2007

Hi Everyone,

This is our last regularly-scheduled newsletter. However we have decided not to cancel the newsletter completely — just change the way we use it. From now on, this is how we envisage our news updates working:

  • The RSS feed will alert you when the Courier is published and when new TATV items are available. In effect, the RSS feed is where you go for general news about the Te Awamutu district.
  • The email newsletter will be published occasionally (maybe once every few months on average) with updates on what's happening at the Te Awamutu Online website. This is where we will provide housekeeping updates, announce new features, etc.
  • Naturally you can unsubscribe from either option if it doesn't suit you.

As most of you know, we have several projects on the back-burner waiting for the right time to develop them. At the moment we have our hands full with regular tasks such as publishing the Courier, updating information and responding to queries. We think it's going well but we are itching to do more fun stuff like TATV and the Virtual Town.

Happily, things are slowly moving in the right direction. During the next year we hope to have more time for Te Awamutu-related projects. If/when this happens, these are our priorities for improving Te Awamutu Online:

  1. An overhaul of the site layout and navigation. This will be necessary before we can move to the next stages.
  2. Develop a better infrastructure for TATV. Ideally we will pick up where we left off last year and provide some new programs, while encouraging more production from community groups (e.g. schools, sports clubs, etc).
  3. Develop the interactive Te Awamutu map at 3DNewZealand.com, including more 360 panoramas and local information.
  4. Work on other features such as the forum, games, etc.

We hope you will stay subscribed to the newsletter, as we are very excited about the future and we want to tell you all about the new developments as they happen. Thanks very much for your continued support.

Bye for now.
Regards,
The Te Awamutu Online Team.
