"Keeping Safe in our Community"

The Te Awamutu Volunteer Fire Brigade held a “Keeping Safe in our Community” day today at Selwyn Park.

Demonstrations were undertaken of simulated kitchen fires and the speed of fire and motor vehicle extrication (crash rescue). Displays were also provided by the NZ Police, St John Ambulance and other services.

The daylight savings period is a traditional time to check smoke alarms in the home as well as creating an increased awareness of keeping safe over the holiday and summer period.

Organisers hope that this will become an annual event and will help increase awareness of the work the emergency services do in our community.
