Snap : Shot in Te Awamutu

Te Awamutu Museum is running a photography show with a twist. Disposable cameras were given to 20 randomly selected people in the community who are not commercial photographers.

The exhibition was opened tonight at an invitation evening at the museum. Samples of some of the most interesting photos were displayed on the walls, with the entire collection available in albums.

Museum Director Roy Gould spoke of the importance of involving local people in the museum's activities. He commended the participants for their efforts and noted the value of having these photos as a record for the future.

Mayor Alan Livingston, who also happened to be one of the photographers, thanked museum staff for their initiative and praised the community for their support.

The exhibition runs from 5th August until 15th September 2003.
