New Logo Proposed
for Te Awamutu

A new logo has been proposed for Te Awamutu, incorporating the words "Rosetown Te Awamutu - One Step Ahead".

The logo was proposed by Te Awamutu Alive and recommended by Te Awamutu Community Board to Waipa District Council. The Council would like to seek feedback from community groups before proceeding.

Last year Te Awamutu Public Relations Committee identified the four main attractions Te Awamutu offers: Roses, the Finn brothers, bush walks and local history. The proposed logo incorporates the traditional rosetown identity as well as the name of a Split Enz song and the walking theme. It also portrays a progressive image for the town.

We would like to collect public reaction to this move. Please use our feedback form to tell us what you think of this logo, whether it should be adopted as the official Te Awamutu logo, and provide any other comments.

Update (24th June 2003): We've received quite a bit of feedback so far, but please feel free to keep it coming. So far the feedback has been almost unanimously in favour of the new logo, although a few people have expressed their opposition. To clarify a couple of points:

  1. Te Awamutu has never actually had an official logo. The proposal is not to replace an existing logo but to create a new one.
  2. There is no suggestion that Te Awamutu loses it's "Rosetown" identity. Indeed Te Awamutu Alive strongly supports the continuing promotion of the rose as an integral part of the town's image.
