Award for Pirongia School WebsiteThe Pirongia School website has won a prestigious "TKI Webguide Award". TKI (Te Kete Ipurangi) is a Ministry of Education website which provides resource material for the education community. The awards exist to recognise excellence in school websites. The Pirongia School website was designed by teacher Tui Allen, who continues to maintain and update it. "It is really quite something to win it - it shows government approval of what we are doing on our site." says Ms Allen. The award includes a special TKI Webguide award graphic to include on the site. An article was also published about the site in the widely-read teacher's publication, the "Education Gazette" (see below). The Pirongia School website is hosted by TeAwamutu.Net, Te Awamutu Online's hosting service for local organisations. To visit the school site, go to: www.teawamutu.net/pirongiaschool |

As a special thank-you from the school, Ms Allen was treated to a trip in a hot-air balloon. The balloon was part of the "Balloons Over Waikato" festival, in which several balloons were brought to local schools for demonstrations. |
