Te Awamutu Museum "Family Treasures" is a research and exhibition project involving students, teachers, families and the Te Awamutu Museum. Local schools were asked to become involved in this historical project. Students searched their homes for treasures which had particular significance to their families. These objects and accompanying stories are on display at the museum. The stories behind the pieces are seen as critical to the exhibition's meaning and success. Ranging from antique toys to war medals, the exhibition is a fascinating example of the rich variety of history hiding away in our own community. "Family Treasures" is open until the 25th November 2002. |
