The future of the old swimming pool site may be in doubt, but a chapter in it's history definitely closed this month. Contractors have begun the job of decommissioning the old pool and are expected to finish work within a few weeks.

The decommissioning job has attracted it's share of controversy, with numerous individuals and parties advocating various options for the site's future. This controversy was compounded when the decommissioning contract was awarded to a Hamilton firm rather than local contractors.

With demolition work now complete, the area will be grassed over pending a final decision on it's future.
