Anzac Theme at Te Awamutu Museum

It's Anzac Week at the Museum. As well as the Anzac Art Competition, the Museum is exhibiting displays from the 1940 Queen Carnival (a fundraising effort for the war) and a tribute to the Te Awamutu Home Guard.

Anzac Day

VisitorsFood Rations

Museum staff, dressed in period clothing, handed out "food ration coupons" to visitors. These were redeemable for a mixture of World War II dishes prepared especially for the occasion. The recipes were taken from a WWII book published in order to help families deal with food shortages and rationing. The menu included Mock Duck, Woolton Pie, Honey Cakes, Crackers with Parsley Honey, Sugarless Apple Dessert and Carrot Fudge.

Anzac Art Competition

Children aged 5-14 were invited to enter the Anzac Art Competition, with the theme 'Anzac Memories'. All works are on display at the museum during Anzac week.
