The Regent Theatre has been a local institution for 75 years, and today celebrated it's birthday in fine style by hosting the There were three screenings of the film, accompanied by ceremonial birthday cake cutting and addresses from owner Allan Webb, Waikato Cinema manager Marcia Petly and Waikato University film lecturer Sam Edwards. Today's event made national news on television, print and internet. Regent Cinema 3 owner Allan Webb said he was "blown away" by the publicity. |

In this age of home theatre and gaming consoles, when very few small communities have retained their cinemas, the Regent's survival is an outstanding success story. The theatre is known and respected throughout the Waikato and Te Awamutu residents can be very proud of this facility.
