Waipa Networks Rose and Cultural Festival

Temple Cottage is hosting a series of open days over the festival. During the past few years this piece of local history has been painstakingly restored to a state as close to the original as possible, complete with furniture and clothing.

Volunteers from the Temple Cottage Development Committee are on hand to show visitors around, answer questions and provide an entertaining insight into life in the early settler times.

Right: A special photographic presentation has been prepared for these open days, including historical images of local people, places and events.

The Old Jailhouse is a fascinating eye-opener. With it's massive doors and fittings, it was a serious security building. There were certainly no comforts, with no furnishings and the only light coming from a tiny window.
