Waipa Networks Rose and Cultural Festival

The Official Festival Opening Ceremony was held this evening at the Burchell Pavilion on Gorst Avenue. Music and light refreshments accompanied the air of anticipation.

Festival organisers Liz McNeill and Dean Taylor thanked sponsors, supporters and the local community.

The festival was officially opened by Ray Milner, General Manager of Waipa Networks Limited.

This was also the first official engagement for Alan Livingston as Mayor of Waipa District.

Mr Livingston praised the festival organisers and expressed his appreciation for their efforts. He also spoke of the excitement surrounding the opening of the new Swimming and Events Centre, and the importance of supporting this facility.
