Midnight Madness hit the town this evening. From 5pm until midnight the Central Business District was closed to traffic and the crowds took over. There was street entertainment, rides, BBQ's & food stalls, bands, karaoke and lots more.

The main event was the Float Parade (see below) at 7:30pm, which included a variety of floats with a special appearance from Santa Claus. People lined the entire main street to watch the huge procession.

Programme for the Evening:

  • 5:00pm: Alexandra & Arawata Streets Closed
  • 5:00pm - 7:30pm: Street Entertainment
  • 7:30pm: Christmas Parade, starting from Mutu Street
    YFC Reel Racing
    Marching Display
  • 9:30pm: Cracker Cash Draw (5 crackers containing Christmas Cash were given away)
  • Late night shopping until midnight
