Radio Networks’ Kay Hale (far left) and Nigel Yalden presented the autographed Jonny Reid shirt to Waipa Plunket Society representatives, from left: Shirley Howat (secretary), Kelly Booth (vice president) and Jackie Dew (president), along with children Ella Patterson and Annabelle Dew.

Motor racing star Jonny Reid’s autographed shirt will turbo charge the launch of Waipa Plunket Society’s fundraising drive for a new clinic.

The present clinic in Vaile Street is bursting at the seams at times with parents and their children, parking nearby is often difficult to come by and it is difficult for parents with prams, toddlers etc to cross the busy road.

Waipa Plunket secretary Shirley Howat won the shirt from Newstalk ZB. After hearing an item on the radio about the station giving it away to a worthy cause, she applied explaining what a great town Te Awamutu is, but that it is desperately in need of new Plunket premises.

Fittingly, the auction of the framed, autographed shirt will be launched on Trade Me just before the V8 racing in Hamilton starts this week. All money raised in the auction will stay in Waipa and will be used towards a new facility in central Te Awamutu.

Meanwhile, Plunket is waiting to hear back from Waipa District Council about its submission on the need for a new Plunket premises.
