We are planning on having bush walks, activities and competitions, stands and demonstrations from various groups, experts and organisations to:
- Educate children and adults about the bush and why it is important to look after our native flora and fauna
- Encourage recreational opportunities on the mountain
- Demonstrate pest control methods, and environmentally friendly practices for farmers and landowners
- Provide restoration ideas with a focus on residential gardens becoming bird friendly as this complements the Rose Festival theme
- Feature storytelling as a medium to bring to life Maori folklore and spirituality relating to Mt Pirongia.
We invite you to come out to Mt Pirongia and enjoy a weekend packed full of interesting facts and fun! For more information please email Carla Vincent at carlajoynz@hotmail.com or phone on (07) 872 8168. |
