Walks in Town
- Pioneer Walk: Easy 15-minute walk from Sculpture Park to the Memorial Park.
- Heritage Trails: Two walking tours of local history—one in Te Awamutu (1½ hours) and one in Kihikihi (1 hour). Each point of interest has an information sign.
Nearby Reserves & Walking Tracks
Includes a relatively easy 90-minute walk around the lake. The walkway is mostly flat and includes stretches of boardwalk, dirt and grass pathways.
An easy 30 minute walk though one of the largest Kahikatea stands in the North Island. The track is wooden boardwalk from start to finish.
Maungatautari Ecological Island
Explore this fascinating project to bring a mountain back to its natural state. 16km from Te Awamutu. Walking options including a 16m canopy platform and a 2 hour walk to a good lookout (795m).
Walter Scott Bush Reserve
At Ngutunui, on the way to Kawhia. Includes two easy/moderate walks—one is about 30 minutes and the other is about 2 hours.
About 11km from Te Awamutu. A 1½ - 2 hour walk to the summit (450m).
