    Waipa Rates

What do you think of the current rates situation in the Waipa district? Has Waipa District Council gone too far this time, or are the rates an unavoidable result of factors beyond Council's control?

Rates are an unpleasant but necessary part of town life.

Protest Against Rates Increase in Waipa District

Council are relentless in spending our hard earned money on unnecessary edifices rather than concentrating on the core infrastructure and services. In the economic times that we are in, we need true leaders that can lead by example rather than what seems like the ruling dictatorship that we have at present. True leaders that understand and sympathise with our peoples concerns is what is needed to get us through these tough times! I definitely support the protest against the rates increases in the Waipa Area at present, as many within our community are hurting and council are not listening. A conservative approach is what is needed at present by council with respect to spending and looking for innovative ways to save – not the excessive spending at present. I sure have lost confidence in our current council and can’t wait to vote again for a CHANGE!

Footage of the March against Rate Increases is on www.youtube.com - type ‘Waipa march against rates’
