The Blindman

The blindman spoke with opaque eyes,
I now can see an azure sky,
I see the ocean sweep the shore,
the birth of day I now adore,
the splendour of a shimmering brook,
now, does not escape my look,
I now can see a sad child smile,
and all that makes a life worthwhile.

Yet! realities generous daily prize,
I failed to see when I had eyes,
for I kept them shut, like a paralysed fist,
that! offered, a sadder, more crippling mist,
but, now they're free, and all that I see,
portrays a more intimate, humbling beauty,
See! loosing my eyes in an ironic way,
has made me see, clearer, more vivid today.

The blindman, then died but this message he sent,
I hope you can see, what his final words meant,
I offer a wish and I pray it comes true,
may all who have good eyes! have clear vision too!
