Music

Many musical styles are represented in Te Awamutu—Indigenous, Western and International. Our schools generally have strong music departments and there are plenty of opportunities for adults as well. See the directory for musical organisations and performance groups.

Te Awamutu has a proud musical history. Notable musicians from our town include:

Tim and Neil Finn: These musical icons have enjoyed decades of international success with bands Split Enz and Crowded House, as well as solo and collaborative work.
Oscar Natzke (AKA Oscar Natzka, 1912-1951): A world-renowned opera performer.
